Forget washing your hands for the length of the “Happy Birthday” song. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has cooked up something way cuter for his baby girl in the name of coronavirus-evading hygiene.
The 47-year-old actor taught his 1-year-old daughter, Tiana, to wash her hands to the tune of “You’re Welcome,” the hit rap from his 2016 Disney movie “Moana.” In the animated hit, The Rock performed the song as his character Maui.
The song just so happens to be 20 seconds long — the exact time the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends spending on sudsing up to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
In the heart-melting video he shared to Instagram, an especially large-looking Johnson, wearing only a towel around his waist, holds tiny Tiana’s hands as she gives them the recommended scrub.
“Our sheltering at home, pre-daddy’s-shower ritual,” Johnson wrote in the caption. “Before my showers now, Baby Tia (mama mia) demands I sing the rap portion of my song ‘You’re Welcome’ from MOANA, while I wash her hands.”
“We realized a few weeks ago that the rap portion of the song is perfect timing when getting your little ones to have fun washing their hands. Stay healthy and safe, my friends.”
He also joked that his daughter has come to expect the performance.
“Gotta love how at the start of this vid, baby Tia is like, ‘just shut your mouth and sing daddy,’ ” he writes.
Johnson, who welcomed the birth of Tiana with his wife, Lauren Hashian, has joined the rest of us in self-isolation after production halted on his upcoming Netflix film “Red Notice.”
This isn’t the first time he’s demonstrated a strong dad game.
When Tiana was born, Johnson praised Hashian, saying he had a new level of “love, respect and admiration” for his wife after participating in Tia’s birth.
“Word to the wise gentlemen,” he wrote in an Instagram caption accompanying a photo of himself holding his newborn. “It’s critical to be by your lady’s head when she’s delivering, being as supportive as you can.. holding hands, holding legs, whatever you can do. But, if you really want to understand the single most powerful and primal moment life will ever offer – watch your child being born. It’s a life changer and the respect and admiration you have for a woman, will forever be boundless.”
