During an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Tuesday night, the “Snakes on a Plane” actor served up a profanity-laced sequel to the 2011 bestselling book “Go the F–k to Sleep,” which was written by Adam Mansbach, with a foul-mouthed audio interpretation by Jackson. But instead of telling kids it’s bedtime, he’s imploring everyone to stay home and help flatten the curve of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“People thought that this would be the perfect time to kind of bring that back,” said Jackson, 71, about the idea to repurpose the original book’s framework. He said he spoke with author Mansbach, who wrote a new poem for the cause.

The “Pulp Fiction” actor — whom Kimmel called “the coolest guy in quarantine” — wore a matching purple T-shirt, jacket and beret for the occasion as he read the randy rhyme while holed up in a screening room at his LA home’s guesthouse.

Jackson delivered the expletive-laced story with a sense of urgency that would scare any coronavirus skeptic — or spring breaker, or church-goer — into quarantining:

Stay the f–k at home
Corona is spreading; this s–t is no joke
It’s no time to work or roam
The way you can fight it is simple, my friends
Just stay the f–k at home

Now technically I’m not a doctor
But motherf–kers listen when I read a poem
So here I am, Samuel L. F–king Jackson, imploring you
Keep your ass at home

If you want things to get back to normal
Don’t panic — just use your dome
Wash your hands, stop touching your face
And stay the f–k at home

Motherf–ker, it’s no time to gamble

Use the motherf–king app on your phone

While streaming his talk show from his home since the pandemic took hold, Kimmel is also soliciting donations to guests’ favorite charities. Jackson chose Feeding America, a hunger-relief organization that has launched several efforts to help the vulnerable during the coronavirus crisis. The pandemic has infected more than 900,000 around the world and led to more than 46,000 deaths.

Jackson isn’t the only celebrity offering silly yet serious advice about hunkering down. Stars including Dakota Johnson and former California gover-nator Arnold Schwarzenegger have offered hand-washing tips to help prevent the spread, while stars like actor Ryan Reynolds and singer Sam Smith are creating videos encouraging people to hunker down.

This also isn’t the first time Jackson repurposed a viral reading of “Go the F–k to Sleep.” In 2012 he produced a re-election campaign ad for then-President Barack Obama in which he implored people to “Wake the f–k up” and vote for him for a second term.
