Theater actor Aaron Tveit, who was starring as Christian in “Moulin Rouge! the Musical” before the Broadway shutdown earlier this month, has tested positive for coronavirus.
“Hey everyone. I just wanted to update you all that I’ve found out that I’ve tested positive for Covid-19,” he wrote in an Instagram post on Monday alongside a photo of his dog Miles, who’s been “loving all this extra time at home” with him. “I’ve been in quarantine since Broadway shows shut down on Thursday, March 12th, and I’m feeling much better.”
The actor, who also appeared on TV’s “Gossip Girl,” said he considers himself lucky because his symptoms have been mild. Most significantly, he has been experiencing “the loss of taste and smell, which I think is a big sign for people who are otherwise asymptotic.”
Tveit, 36, said he was tested on March 16 and just got the results back.

“I have been taking this situation extremely seriously, even before I was tested,” he wrote. “I want everyone to realize that this can affect anyone. And even if you aren’t feeling sick or showing drastic symptoms – please take heed, stay safe, stay healthy and I hope to see everyone at the theater again soon.”
Tveit joins the growing list of celebrities including Andy Cohen, Tom Hanks and Idris Elba, who have announced they’ve tested positive for coronavirus
