After a follower informed Mapelli Mozzi that Finland had already taken a similar course of action, the real-estate magnate replied: “That’s is fantastic. Come on UK Supermarkets,” tagging Aldi, Tesco, and Morrisons, among others.
“We have a duty to protect the vulnerable. There are lots of innovative things the private sector can do and absolutely everybody needs to show empathy and kindness to those that need the help the most,” Mapelli Mozzi also posted.
As of Monday, there are over 169,000 known cases of coronavirus worldwide, with 6,513 deaths. In Italy, where Mapelli Mozzi has family ties, nearly 2,000 people have died.
With Mapelli Mozzi, 37, and Beatrice, 31, slated to wed on May 29 in the UK, it remains to be seen if the couple will alter their plans. “The coronavirus has thrown a bit of a [wrench] in the works,” a royal insider previously told The Telegraph.
Should plans proceed, the couple is set to tie the knot inside the chapel at St James’ Palace with a reception to follow at Buckingham Palace.
