Conor McGregor‘s aunt died of coronavirus, the UFC star said in a heartfelt Instagram message.
“My lovely little auntie Anne had passed away,” he wrote, in a detailed caption. “This stupid f—–g virus. What the f–k is happening.”
The mixed martial artist, 31, has become “vigilant” in stopping himself from touching his face and other people, and is washing his hands constantly, he wrote.
“Ireland you amazing, amazing country. I believe we have this virus contained. And through this containment, we actually may have gone and contained them all,” the father of one wrote.
McGregor hopes he’ll be healthier going forward.
“The good habits we will have now gained from this wild covid-19 attack will see us too strong in future. Hand hygiene. Touching of own face hygiene. Consistent thorough cleaning of handled areas hygiene. What we should really be all doing anyway,” he wrote.
After his Friday night post, the Trump administration announced UK and Ireland will be added to the list of European countries banned from traveling to the US.
McGregor said he had taken his family to Bull Island to relax. “Looked out at the sea. Took a deep breath,” he said.
