Cocaine worth $600,000 was found in a 'juice' truck in Laredo, Texas

Authorities say they found more than $500,000 worth of cocaine in a truck that said it was delivering 'juice' and was trying to get into the US through the southern border.

US Customs and Border Protection said Monday that the drug bust happened at the World Trade Bridge in Laredo, Texas. There, border agents found a freight truck that said it was carrying "juice."

"The truck was sent for a canine and non-intrusive inspection system check, and 38 packages with 87 pounds of suspected cocaine were found in the tires of the trailer," the agency said.

The agency thought the value of the items seized was more than $600,000.

The number of drugs caught at the US-Mexico border has reached an all-time high, according to officials.

“Our CBP officers’ knowledge of concealment methods and technology played a key role in the discovery of these illicit narcotics,” Laredo Port of Entry Director Alberto Flores said in a statement.

“We remain committed to ensuring our cargo system remains secure while facilitating lawful commerce.”

Several officials in states that border Mexico have said that President Biden's immigration policies make it easy for drugs and other narcotics to get into the US without being caught.

The governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, criticized Biden for the policies.

“Biden should be given an honorary membership in the Mexican drug cartels,” said DeSantis.

“Because nobody has done more to help the cartels than Biden with his open border policies.”

Recent information shows that since the beginning of the year, customs officials have taken away nearly 200,000 pounds of illegal drugs.

US police seized more than $5,000 worth of meth in a record-setting bust last week in Southern California.
