Elon Musk floated the idea of a Tesla-branded tequila on April Fools’ Day — but the product was apparently no joke.

A bottle of the agave-based spirit will run buyers $250 a bottle — and customers are limited to two bottles per person.

According to their website, the tequila will be sold in a bottle in the shape of Tesla’s iconic lightning bolt logo.

The car company is advertising the liquor as “premium 100% de agave tequila añejo aged in French oak barrels,” and claims it has “a dry fruit and light vanilla nose with a balanced cinnamon pepper finish.”

Just hours after the tequila went on sale, Tesla’s website was sold out of the product. Resellers are already scalping the bottles for as much as $999.

Musk previously joked about “Teslaquila” as part of an April Fools Day prank in 2018.

As part of the joke, Musk claimed the company was out of money and posed with a cardboard sign that read “Bankwupt!”

The tequila announcement comes on the heels of a statement Musk made on Twitter earlier this week, revealing that the company really was “about a month” away from bankruptcy between mid-2017 and mid-2019.
