Walmart has begun returning firearms and ammo to the selling floors of its stores nationwide — just one day after yanking them from merchandise displays for fear of imminent “civil unrest.”

The retail giant, which sells firearms at around half of its 5,000 US outlets, had removed the items from public view, saying it would only supply them upon request — before announcing it has now changed its mind after seeing that “current incidents” resulting in damage to some stores have remained “geographically isolated.

“After civil unrest earlier this week resulted in damage to several of our stores … we asked stores to move firearms and ammunition from the sales floor,” the company said in a statement.

“As the current incidents have remained geographically isolated, we have made the decision to begin returning these products to the sales floor today,” the company said.

In the past year, vandals have smashed windows and looted merchandise during Black Lives Matter demonstrations in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Portland and other cities.

Gun sales have also reached record highs, notably among first-time buyers.
