Meghan Markle celebrated the one-year anniversary of her clothing line for Smart Works on Saturday by joining a video chat with several of the UK charity’s clients who found work through the organization.

“People can say that so much of Smart Works is about the clothes themselves but it’s really not,” the Duchess of Sussex, 39, explained during the call. “All of that stuff is the exterior, but it’s what it does for you on the inside that ends up being the best accessory. It’s the confidence, it’s what is built within, that is the piece that you walk out of that room with and walk into the interview with.”

Dubbed the Smart Set, Markle’s workwear capsule collection for the charity featured a shirt, trousers, blazer, dress and tote bag, all “classic wardrobe pieces” to help clients “feel confident as they [mobilized] back into the work space,” she said at the time.

The Duchess worked with her designer BFF Misha Nonoo and a trio of British retailers — Jigsaw, Marks & Spencer and John Lewis — to create the line, and for each piece sold, another was donated to the charity.

“The collection was designed to create a perfect working wardrobe for Smart Works clients. With over 3,000 clients coming to Smart Works in the last year and 1,000 women taking pieces, the collection has proved to be invaluable,” the organization shared on Instagram Saturday.

“Thank you to everyone to bought a piece of the collection and the retailers who made it possible.”
