Talk about good genes.

In a new video for Goop, Gwyneth Paltrow joined her mother Blythe Danner for a candid chat about beauty, aging and skincare, with her 16-year-old daughter Apple Martin doing double duty as camerawoman and co-interviewer.

Danner, 77, said she learned the importance of good skincare from her mother, whose simple routine revolved solely around Vaseline. As an actress who spent lots of time in hair and makeup chairs, she came to value a minimalist regimen herself.

“I feel like you were so natural with stuff,” Paltrow, 47, told Danner. “Like you never fussed in the bathroom, you never had a big getting-ready routine.”

As for the Goop guru? “I always had a very minimal routine, but I did get — because you have dry skin and I have dry skin — the idea of always having moisturizer,” Paltrow said.

Asked by Apple about the age when they felt “prettiest,” Paltrow replied, “I felt really great in my late 30s.”

Continued the Oscar winner, “I think aging is hard. It’s definitely a process, and I think when you see your face start to change, you don’t necessarily feel your most beautiful externally. But the irony is it’s that time in your life when you actually really like yourself and love yourself. So you sort of internally feel really beautiful.”

Danner concurred. “I think I felt prettiest at 50 — maybe because of what you just said,” she added.

The video was pegged to the release of Goop’s new GOOPGENES All-In-One Nourishing Face Cream ($95) and GOOPGENES All-In-One Nourishing Eye Cream ($55), which are both available now.
