The news sent shares of Gruhub, which owns food delivery app Seamless, up 7.4 percent, to $61.76, in afternoon trading.

Ride-hailing firm Uber in May approached the online food delivery company for an all-stock deal.

Grubhub and Delivery Hero did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment, while Just Eat Takeaway.com declined to comment.
