Returning to “The Hills: New Beginnings” felt like a homecoming of sorts to series star Whitney Port.

“It is really awesome to see how people have grown, how people have matured,” Port recently told Page Six Style of the MTV hit, which aired last summer.

“I think, when we’re all in our twenties, we don’t really know who we are,” she continued. “I think now, I feel now that I’m connecting with people more than ever because we all know who we are a little bit more.”

Port, 35, first appeared on “The Hills” in 2006 with Lauren Conrad, Audrina Patridge and Heidi Montag, before starring in the New York-based spinoff, “The City,” two years later. While much has changed between now and then — she married Tim Rosenman in 2015 and they are proud parents to son Sonny, now 2, — her friendships have only grown stronger.

“We’ve known each other for so long, you see everyone and it’s back to square one, you feel immediately comfortable with everyone,” Port said.

Fans of the original series saw Port evolve from an intern at Teen Vogue to working alongside publicist Kelly Cutrone at People’s Revolution. Now the host of the “With Whit” podcast, Port is also paying it forward, partnering with Chloe Wine and Dress for Success to raise awareness for the “Your Hour Her Power” campaign, helping women strive to reach their potential in the workforce and beyond.

“For me, a lot of my career revolves empowering women and validating women, making sure they feel comfortable speaking their minds, and following their dreams,” Port explained.

Port went to Dress for Success’ Los Angeles facility, where she styled and prepared a slew of different looks for women.

“We all have a responsibility to encourage other people to be the best version of themselves and open them up to opportunities that they may never know that they had. What was so cool about doing ‘The Hills’ and doing ‘The City’ was that it opened up all these young girls to this industry that they may have never known existed,” she said.

Amid growing concerns over the coronavirus pandemic, Port is encouraging fans and followers to support one another, even from the comforts of home.

“There’s so much uncertainty and we don’t really know what we should be doing, and I think it’s really more important to support an organization that raises women up and helps get them on their feet,” Port said.

“It is really times like these [that show] how important it is for communities to come together to support one another instead of alienating one another, and that’s what Dress for Success does day in and day out.”

She continued, “I think helping other people will make us feel more useful at this time. It will make us feel better about ourselves, that we’re not just sitting inside and feeling that loss of control.”
