Elon Musk laughs off affair rumors with Sergey Brin's wife, insists he hasn’t ‘had sex in ages’
Who is Nicole Shanahan?
Elon Musk begged Sergey Brin, a co-founder of Google, for forgiveness over an alleged relationship with his wife
Sergey Brin's ex-wife, who is said to have had an affair with Elon Musk, is an attorney and Silicon Valley business owner who lives in California.
The Wall Street Journal said that Nicole Shanahan had a short affair with Elon Musk in December. This caused her husband to file for divorce and end his longtime friendship with Musk.
Shanahan was known for starting ClearAccessIP, a tech company that uses artificial intelligence to manage patents, before she became the center of a love triangle between two of the world's richest men. In 2020, she sold the business.
She is also the founder and head of the Bia-Echo Foundation, a charity that works to improve the criminal justice system, fight for a sustainable future, and fund research on women in their mid-30s' fertility and ability to have children for a long time.
Shanahan has talked about how hard it was for her to get pregnant at the opening of the Center for Female Reproductive Longevity and Equality at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging. This is a personal issue for her.
“Like many women who are not quite ready to start a family in their early 30s, I decided, or so I thought at the time, to take matters into my own hands and freeze embryos. However, after three failed attempts at embryo-making and three dozen visits to in vitro fertilization clinics around the Bay Area, I learned that I was not nearly as unshakable as I thought I was,” she said.
Shanahan’s foundation provided the initial funding that launched the center, Page Six previously reported.
“I committed myself to help future generations of women have more choices,” she said of the issue.
In the end, she had a baby girl with Brin. The baby was born in late 2018, the same year that the couple got married in a small ceremony. In 2015, they met at a yoga camp.
Before he met Brin, Shanahan was married to a finance executive.
According to an interview she gave to Modern Luxury magazine, the business owner grew up in Oakland and used food stamps as a child. She then worked her way up from there.
Shanahan told the magazine that she "had to figure out how the world works on my own" because her mother was born in China and her father had mental health problems.
"I had two unemployed parents for most of my childhood, so there was no money and almost no parental guidance. With a mentally ill father, you can imagine that there was a lot of chaos and fear," she said in the June 2021 issue.
Shanahan waited on tables when he was 12 years old. Later in life, he went to law school.
She went to the University of Puget Sound for school and to Santa Clara University for law school.
She was also a patent expert before she started her own business, and she is now a CodeX fellow at Stanford Law School.
