Yankees’ schedule in flux again after Phillies’ coronavirus cases

BALTIMORE —  Another day, another potential schedule change for the Yankees.

The Phillies announced Thursday that a coach and home clubhouse attendant tested positive for COVID-19 and they canceled a workout at their home park.

The Phillies, who played the Marlins in Philadelphia over the weekend, were scheduled to play the Blue Jays at Citizen Bank Park this weekend. Toronto manager Charlie Montoyo said Thursday those games would not be played.

As for the Yankees, they were initially slated to play the Phillies this week before Philadelphia had its season paused. Instead, the Yankees shifted to a two-game series against the Orioles in Baltimore.

The Yankees are still scheduled to play their home opener versus the Red Sox on Friday. Aaron Boone was “under the impression” Wednesday the Yankees would then host the Phillies Monday and Tuesday before visiting Philadelphia for a pair of games Wednesday and Thursday, with next Thursday’s originally scheduled game against the Rays pushed into a weekend doubleheader.

Now those games — and really, the rest of the MLB season — are up in the air.
