Is there anything wrong with steamgifts?
There's nothing wrong with Steamgifts. Just because someone broke the rules and got banned doesn't mean that the site deserves a bad review, which seems to encompass at least some of the negative reviews here. I joined SG two years ago and haven't gotten in trouble with the mods once.
