What is the latest on the peuc and Pua programs in Pennsylvania?
Today, Department of Labor & Industry (L&I) Acting Secretary Jennifer Berrier provided an update on the recent Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) and Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) implementations in Pennsylvania. Both programs, which expired the end of December 2020, resumed as part of the new federal CARES Act extensions.
What is Pua and how does it work?
What is PUA? The Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) provided up to 79 weeks of unemployment benefits to individuals not eligible for regular unemployment compensation or extended benefits due to COVID-19. PUA benefits ceased on September 4, 2021.
What is the Federal pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA)?
This includes the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance ( PUA ), Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation ( PEUC) and a reinstatement, but halving of the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC) Program which provides a $300 supplemental weekly unemployment payment.
What is the PUA program and when will it reopen?
L&I reopened the PUA program on Friday, January 22. Since then, claimants have filed close to 420,000 weeks for the program, which assists workers who are not eligible for regular UC, such as gig workers, freelancers and self-employed workers.
