The popular review website is laying off or furloughing more than 2,000 workers due to economic strain from the coronavirus pandemic, CNBC reported on Thursday.

The company has already cut executive pay by 20 to 30 percent, reduced server pay and deprioritized certain projects, according to CNBC.

By early afternoon, investors had sent shares of Yelp plummeting 5.2 percent, to $20.50.

Yelp will soften the blow to workers by giving furloughed staff most of their benefits and two weeks of additional pay, the company said.

Laid-off workers will receive severance and three months of health insurance benefits.
