It might be time to bounce a pitch toward Oswald Peraza to see if he hits that for a home run, too.

The highly regarded Yankees prospect has homered on each of the last three pitches he has faced for the High-A Hudson Valley Renegades. The incredible streak, which includes four home runs in his last nine at-bats, began when he pulled a 2-0 pitch over the left-field fence in the ninth inning Thursday night and continued in spectacular fashion Friday.

Peraza, a shortstop, didn’t start the game – a routine day off, according to the team – but entered the outing as a defensive replacement in the seventh inning after an injury to outfielder Steven Sensley. Peraza homered on the first pitch of both his at-bats, including a go-ahead two-run shot that had him leaping out of the batter’s box in a 9-4 win.

The 20-year-old Peraza had just five home runs in his first 622 at-bats as a farmhand. He is ranked as the Yankees’ No. 4 prospect, according to MLB.com.

The minor-league season is just two weeks old and already Peraza is the third Yankees prospect to go on an incredible home-run tear.

Estevan Florial, ranked as the No. 10 prospect after playing in one MLB game last summer, hit four home runs in the season-opening six-game series for the Double-A Somerset Patriots. Three of those homers led off the bottom of the first inning and earned his promotion to the Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, where he could be on short call with Brett Gardner and Clint Frazier struggling and Aaron Hicks out with a wrist injury.

Second baseman Trevor Hauver homered in each of his first five professional games (six homers total) for the Single-A Tampa Tarpons. He hit 18 home runs in three seasons at Arizona State.
