Reese Witherspoon says she isn’t afraid of death because of the religious way she lives her life.

“I don’t have a lot of fear, that’s true,” the 44-year-old “Legally Blonde” actress recently told the LA Times. “There’s a time and a purpose and a place, and I don’t fear death, because I know there’s heaven. I know it.”

Witherspoon said her confidence comes from her strong belief that her Episcopalian faith will ensure her entry into heaven.

The actress, who attends church twice a week and grew up singing in her church choir, explained that she never questioned the idea of an afterlife.

“I believe deeply that there’s a higher power — and I don’t know what that is — but I just don’t fear dying,” the “Big Little Lies” star said. “A lot of people have these repressive experiences with religion, and I didn’t. I felt this incredible acceptance and that everyone has a gift and we’re all God’s children and your purpose in the world is to find the gifts that God gave you.”

Despite her lack of fear towards her own death, that’s not to say it doesn’t pain her to lose someone.

She opened up about grieving for “Little Fires Everywhere” executive producer Lynn Shelton who died last month at age 54, saying, “She was a truly wonderful human and a vibrant talent, gone way too soon.”
