“It’s 15 games,” Cashman said. “It’s 15 games I’d like to forget.’’

The GM said that owner Hal Steinbrenner is “disappointed, clearly. He got a lot invested in this situation.”

But Cashman added they weren’t going to change course.

“We know better days are ahead,” Cashman said during a Zoom call on Monday, a day after the Yankees dropped their fifth straight game as the Rays swept a series in The Bronx.

He also supported manager Aaron Boone.

While Boone “is in the same boat” as the rest of the organization in terms of being judged on the tough stretch, Cashman said he’s “doing everything he needs to do.”

Cashman pointed to Boone’s “pissed off” message to the team after Friday’s loss.

“He’s engaged with the group in a strong way and doing everything he needs to do,” Cashman said. “And most importantly, supporting these guys. We trust these guys over the course of the season. He’s doing everything he can… I’ve got a lot of trust in these guys.”

The GM said the same of his players.

“I don’t see us shaking up the roster too quickly,” Cashman said.
