        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The coronavirus pandemic has not cooled the fevers of avid theatre-goers, despite the fact that Broadway is <strong>closed through June.</strong></p><p>The virtual opening of the musical &#8220;Pride and Prejudice&#8221; drew 150,000 views when it was <strong>streamed on Friday</strong> free of charge from the Palo Alto&#8217;s TheatreWorks in Silicon Valley.</p><p>The show had run at the theater from Dec. 4 to Jan. 4.</p><p>The performance was hosted by actresses Beth Level from &#8220;The Drowsy Chaperone&#8221; and Laura Osnes of &#8220;Cinderella.&#8221;</p><p>Viewers from 14 different countries — including the United States, Italy, Singapore, Australia, Germany and England — tuned in to the performance, which included interviews with members of the creative team.</p><p>The two-year-old platform that streamed the performance, Streaming Musicals, plans to keep <strong>releasing new work</strong> throughout the course of the coronavirus pandemic.</p><p>Their next planned stream is “Marry Harry,<em>”</em> which premiered off-Broadway at the York Theatre company.</p>]]></content:encoded>
