        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Verizon customers whose internet goes on the fritz may not be able to get back online until November, some griped Tuesday, as the company enacted a new repair policy in response to the coronavirus crisis.</p><p>At-home service would now be limited to &#8220;critical needs&#8221; in order to prevent the spread of the virus, Verizon said on its site, <strong>Business Insider reported</strong>.</p><p>&#8220;We are minimizing our in-home installation work to critical needs to keep our employees and customers safe and to reduce the spread of COVID-19,&#8221; the company said.</p><p>Verizon will now only dispatch technicians for &#8220;medical emergencies and critical installations,&#8221; a company spokesperson told the outlet.</p><p>It&#8217;s unclear when the company will return to full service.</p><p>But some customers claimed Tuesday that they are unable to get an appointment for a technician to come for months.</p><p>&#8220;When you&#8217;re moving and @Verizon can&#8217;t get you internet until November on a place already using Verizon,&#8221; <a href="https://twitter.com/diamond_joe3/status/1247515919166976000">tweeted one user</a>, who was given an appointment for Nov. 30. &#8220;How is self-install not an option? Ridiculous.&#8221;</p><p>Another customer also <a href="https://twitter.com/jassribasuxxx/status/1245432354493120518">tweeted</a> that there were no appointments available until fall, saying, &#8220;Verizon just told me my technician might come fix my internet issue by November.&#8221;</p><p>Other clients said that scheduled appointments have been abruptly cancelled.</p><p>&#8220;I confirmed my appointment yesterday and also had a confirmation message this AM,&#8221; <a href="https://twitter.com/Liam82642025/status/1247551468237926400">the Twitter user wrote</a>. &#8220;At the last minute Verizon Fios cancelled installation and have left me stranded without internet to work from home.&#8221;</p><p>Verizon didn&#8217;t immediately respond to request for comment.</p>]]></content:encoded>
