Val Kilmer’s daughter, Mercedes. She’s in the film “Paydirt:” “My mom, actress Joanne Whalley, didn’t push showbiz. Both parents stayed neutral. Neither were supportive nor discouraging. It happens my brother is an actor, too. It also happens this is my first film with my father.

“The acting bug bit me at 12 when I did ‘Romeo and Juliet’ but right afterward I blacked out and don’t even remember performing. I just thought, ‘I want to do this forever.’” She also fell asleep watching Dad’s 1993 “Tombstone.”

Let’s hope she stays awake because “Paydirt” begins streaming Friday.

Big Apple’s become a circus

Bill O’Reilly, born and living among us: “New York is falling apart.”

Pre-pandemic 1.4 million packed up their accents and moved out. Post-pandemic 420,000 exited. So, they’ll find a bagel and shmear where? Iowa? Kosher hot dogs, Halal street food, designer pasta is not where the corn is as high as an elephant’s eye.

Says real estate’s Bill Rudin of Rudin Management: “We see commercial leasing activity. Like 170,000 square feet on one Park Avenue office. Another took an old-time Sixth Avenue address. Liberty Street downtown got a half-a-million dollar lease. A bank’s 250,000 feet in 52nd’s Equitable Building. With Phase 4, clients now tour properties. Deals reignite. Apartment activity increases come fall when people return.

“Take the ’70s fiscal crisis. Early ’90s crime issues. 9/11. Superstorm Sandy six years ago. Always knee-jerk reactions. Move out. Some stay out. Year later some move back. Today’s transition is until vaccines and therapies come. Never bet against committed New York. Like always, we’ll figure this out.

“CEOs want employees back in the workplace. Brand loyalty, mentorship, water-cooler chat, interaction is critical. Zoom calls don’t do it. This city’s power is diversity. But no increase of taxes or we scare away those who significantly support the tax base. The Fed needs to help.

“Thriving lower Manhattan took five years to develop. We’ve got 30 million feet available space just in lower Manhattan. Pricing adjusts. Cities like this come back. They’re created to bring people together. I’m not sticking my head in the sand. Not walking away. This is my town. We’re the greatest city in the world.”

Peter Minuit blew 60 guilders to buy New York real estate. He’d have gotten it for half if he had Rudin.

He wants Moore

Michael Moore wants a bailout for his canceled Traverse City Film Festival, which is in some resort town in some chunk of wherever northern Michigan is. Begun in 2005, the thing would’ve been last week. E-mailing supporters, he says he’s out a million bucks and needs donations. Moore lives part of the year in this whoknowswhere place and runs two now-closed movie theaters.

Maybe he’ll make a movie about it.

Ties to the monarchy

After mucho arithmetic just dethroned Spain’s longtime King Juan Carlos in favor of his son, the new King Felipe, one New Yorker — whose mouth is larger than his apartment — reports:

“My best friend and young brother married Spanish females. Both since remarried. I only know whoever I meet from there flash rings bearing some family crest. Each one claims to be related to royalty.”

Continuing Biden nursery rhymes:

Joe and Jill went up the hill
To fetch a pair of voters
Joe flopped on his quote and lost his vote
And Jill came tumbling after.

Only in the USA, kids, Only in the USA.
