Trevor Bauer’s one-eye experiment did not work out as well this time.

Bauer hit Mariners third baseman Ty France with a pitch in the first inning of the Dodgers’ spring training game on Thursday.

Bauer had bragged about using the method in his previous start against the Padres.

“I like making myself uncomfortable and throwing different stuff my way and trying to find a solution for it,” Bauer told reporters after that previous start.

“I think that’s how you improve. Find a way to make yourself uncomfortable and get comfortable with it and then do it again.”

In this erratic start, however, Bauer allowed three hits, four walks and one run in 3 1/3 innings.

“My right eye wasn’t really, like, focusing well for whatever reason,” Bauer said Thursday, according to the Orange County Register.

“Not sure if it was the lighting or what it was. But I felt like my head was swimming. Got that locked back in.”

Bauer, who signed a three-year, $102 million deal this offseason with the Dodgers, is proving to be as interesting as advertised in his first appearances with his new team.
