In preparation of Thursday’s draft, which will be held virtually because of the coronavirus pandemic, the league held a dress rehearsal starting at 1 p.m. ET on Monday.

“Mock draft today already technical glitch [with] Cincinnatis 1st pick!!! Brutal,” a person involved texted to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who tweeted the complaint by 1:24 p.m.

Coaches and general managers told ESPN’s Dianna Russini that there were communication issues and bandwidth was a problem. One GM said the problem was some forgetting to hit the mute button.

Of course, there’s a reason why the league opted to have the mock draft in the first place with a heavy emphasis on technology in this year’s draft.

“After the start, its running smoothly. Its quiet actually on the call,” a head coach texted to Russini.

Team executives are drafting from their own homes with facilities closed because of the pandemic. Picks can be submitted through Microsoft Teams, over the phone, through a text message or by email, though the involvement of trades added another layer of difficulty.

Monday’s mock draft was set to be a two-round run through.
