The cast of “That Thing You Do!” is reuniting to honor songwriter Adam Schlesinger — who died of coronavirus complications earlier this month — and raise funds for COVID-19 relief efforts.

For the first time in 25 years, all four cast members of the fictional band The Wonders will gather virtually and share memories of the iconic 1996 movie.

Tom Everett Scott, Johnathon Schaech, Steve Zahn and Ethan Embry will unite on Friday after beloved dad-of-two Schlesinger — who wrote the iconic Oscar-nominated song “That Thing You Do!” — died on April 1. Star Liv Tyler is also slated for the reunion.

It’s not yet known whether Tom Hanks — who made his directorial debut with the film — will join. The Oscar winner — who helmed the “At Home” edition of “Saturday Night Live” this weekend — is still recovering from coronavirus alongside his wife Rita Wilson, but said of Schlesinger there would have been no film without him.

Adam SchlesingerGetty Images

He tweeted, “There would be no Playtone without Adam Schlesinger, without his That Thing You Do! He was a One-der. Lost him to Covid-19. Terribly sad today.”

Schaech said the cast members were all left devastated by Schlesinger’s death, saying: “You were the talent, Adam! RIP. Our hearts are broken in a million pieces.”

Schlesinger was famously part of the band Fountains of Wayne, and wrote the group’s most popular song, “Stacy’s Mom,” with lead vocalist Chris Collingwood.

The “That Thing You Do!” stars will chat on Zoom to raise funds for the MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund.

Fans can join the livestream on YouTube starting at 4 p.m. PST/7 p.m. EST on Friday and can submit questions beforehand via the cast’s social accounts.
