Henson to star in ‘Empire’ spinoff focused on Cookie Lyon Taraji P. Henson is set to star in an “Empire” spinoff based around Cookie Lyon, her unforgettable character from the Fox series.

Her new production company, TPH Entertainment, will also produce the show, it announced. “Empire” creators Lee Daniels and Danny Strong will be her co-executive producers.

It may be an opportunity to provide a conclusion for “Empire,” which was canceled amid the Jussie Smollett scandal — and then couldn’t tape its final episodes because of the pandemic.

The Hollywood Reporter says that the show will follow Cookie as she moves to Los Angeles.
