        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The world might be on pause for now but the streaming wars continue.</p><p>With people stuck inside in the wake of <strong>the global pandemic</strong>, more people than ever are watching TV. Netflix reported <strong>a record 16 million new subscribers</strong>, while Disney+ <strong>added 50 million subscribers</strong> in its first five months.</p><p>HBO Max hopes to grab a piece of the online audience and give the established streamers a run for their money.</p><p>It <strong>launches May 27</strong> and <strong>will cost $14.99 per month</strong> (or $11.99 for subscribers who sign up pre-launch) and offers a slate of new series and a back catalog of 10,000 hours of programming from HBO, TNT, TBS, Adult Swim and more &#8212; <strong>including all 236 episodes of “Friends,”</strong> “The Big Bang Theory,” &#8220;Rick and Morty,” &#8220;The O.C.&#8221; and HBO classics including “The Sopranos.” There&#8217;s also <strong>a &#8220;Gossip Girl&#8221; reboot on the way</strong> (no premiere date yet).</p><p>Subscribers will also be able to watch new episodes of HBO series, including &#8220;Westworld,&#8221; the same day they premiere on HBO. His guests&nbsp; will include Jimmy Fallon, Blake Lively, John Mulaney and the Jonas Brothers.
