Highlights from Wednesday’s Giants practice:

Good

Two practices without a kicker was enough. Newly signed ex-Panther Graham Gano, 33, was on the field after missing last season due to injury. “He’s a big-leg guy,” coach Joe Judge said. “With any specialist, you really see their best ball as they get to their 30s.”

Bad

No one is spared from running punitive laps at practice. Quarterback Daniel Jones, along with center Spencer Pulley, jogged for a botched snap and were replaced by Colt McCoy and Nick Gates, respectively, as the drill continued.

Caught my eye

Saquon Barkley joined the kick returners during a non-contact drill designed to set up blocks. He averaged 27.8 yards per return with two touchdowns at Penn State but has not had the opportunity in two NFL seasons.

Medical report

Wide receiver/special teams gunner Cory Core (torn Achilles) is out for the season. “He is one of the top special teams players in the league,” Judge said.

Cornerback Corey Ballentine was cleared by the medical staff to go through all team drills Wednesday after Tuesday’s injury scare in a 1-on-1 collision.
