        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="p3"><span class="s2">In a new interview with <span class="s3">Total Film magazine</span> (via <strong>News.com.au</strong>), <strong><span class="s3">Salma Hayek</span></strong> recounted directors instructing her to “sound dumber and speak faster.”</span></p><p class="p3"><span class="s2">The 53-year-old actress revealed that her early background as a trained actor was often dismissed by directors in Hollywood.</span></p><p class="p3"><span class="s2">“Unfortunately, I never had a lot of chances to do parts where I could use a lot of the things I learned,&#8221; Hayek noted</span><span class="s4">.</span><span class="s2">&nbsp;“I’ve had directors say to me, ‘Dumber and faster. Sound dumber and speak faster!’”</span></p><p class="p3"><span class="s2">The “Like a Boss” star first made it big in her native Mexico where she played the title role in the wildly popular telenovela, &#8220;Teresa.&#8221; In 1991, Hayek moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting. Hayek&#8217;s lack of English — combined with her dyslexia — made finding roles a challenge.</span></p><p><span class="s2">Hayek&#8217;s Hollywood moment would come in 1995 when director Robert Rodriguez and his producer and then-wife Elizabeth Avellan, cast the actress alongside Antonio Banderas in “Desperado.”</span></p><p class="p4"><span class="s2">Since then, Hayek has gone on to star in numerous blockbusters, notably “Frida,” for which she received an Academy Award nomination in 2002. </span>She just completed filming the eagerly awaited Marvel film &#8220;The Eternals&#8221; opposite Angelina Jolie and Kit Harington.</p><p class="p4"><span class="s2">Hayek is married to French billionaire François-Henri Pinault with whom she shares 12-year-old daughter, Valentina.</span></p>]]></content:encoded>
