        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Rihanna</strong> is teaming up with Twitter boss <strong>Jack Dorsey</strong> to help a vulnerable segment of the population — domestic abuse survivors.</p><p>On Thursday, the 32-year-old Grammy Award-winning artist announced a joint funding effort between the Clara Lionel Foundation — founded by Rihanna in 2012 — and Dorsey, 43, to address the huge surge in domestic violence cases that have taken place in Los Angeles since the coronavirus lockdown took effect.</p><p>According to the Los Angeles Housing Authority, approximately 90 people a week have been turned away from domestic violence shelters since the “Safer at Home” order took effect in late March.</p><p>The combined $4.2 million in funds will “provide 10 weeks of support including shelter, meals, and counseling for individuals and their children suffering from domestic violence at a time when shelters are full and incidents are on the rise,&#8221; per a press release.</p><p>“Victims of domestic violence exist all over the world, so this is just the beginning,&#8221; the statement also read.</p><p>Rihanna has <strong>already donated $5 million</strong> to help combat the pandemic and Dorsey announced that he will be <strong>donating $1 billion</strong> of his equity, almost a third of his net worth towards fighting coronavirus, in addition to other issues.</p>]]></content:encoded>
