Snow, NBC News’ Senior National Correspondent, has been caring for Bro at their home in Austin, Texas, since she fell ill last week.

She admitted that caring for Bro and their teenage children in a city where they have no family has taken its toll, writing on the “Today” website: “If I’m being honest, my biggest fear right now is that he will take a turn for the worse — that he won’t be able to breathe and that I’ll have to take him to the hospital.

“We have no family here so I made a plan with my neighbor that if I have to leave, and the kids are alone, she’ll help them. It makes me emotional because that’s my biggest fear: I won’t be able to take care of my kids.”

But the couple were given a boost by Springfield, who reached out on Tuesday and sang his 1981 hit. (Springfield and Snow duetted on air for a segment in 2013.)

He said:”Hi Kate, it’s Rick Springfield here, I understand you’re going through a very tough time and I wish you and your husband healing and peace. I remember back in Austin where we got together and sang a song I so thought I would send you healing and love and a song.”

Snow tweeted the video and wrote: “So many thoughtful people have reached out to us. This one made our day — taking us back to a happy time when we met @rickspringfield in Austin. #MusicHeals so he said we could share. I hope it brightens your day too.”
