        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Regis Philbin&#8217;s cause of death has been revealed.</p><p>The beloved TV host died from myocardial infarction due to coronary artery disease and hypertension, a spokesperson for the Chief Medical Examiner&#8217;s Office in Farmington, Conn., confirmed to Page Six on&nbsp;Wednesday. Philbin <strong>died on Friday</strong>, July 24, at age 88.</p><p>The family of the &#8220;Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?&#8221; host issued a statement mourning his death after he passed away.</p><p>“We are deeply saddened to share that our beloved Regis Philbin passed away last night of natural causes, one month shy of his 89th birthday,” his family wrote.</p><p>His former co-host Kathie Lee Gifford also opened up about the <strong>last time she saw her good friend</strong>.</p><p>&#8220;We just had the best time,&#8221; she said of her lunch with Philbin and his wife, Joy. &#8220;I just thought to myself, ‘Lord, is that the last time I’m going to see my friend?’ Cause he was failing, I could tell.&#8221;</p><p>Philbin&#8217;s other longtime on-screen partner <strong>Kelly Ripa also paid tribute</strong> to the game show legend.</p><p>“As people get older, you always know that certain things are inevitable, and passing away is one of those things, but Regis is one of the people that we all believed, I think, would somehow figure out a way around the inevitable,&#8221; an emotional Ripa, who worked alongside Philbin for 11 years, said on &#8220;Live!&#8221;</p>]]></content:encoded>
