        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Regis Philbin</strong> will be buried on the campus of the University of Notre Dame, his beloved alma mater, according to reports.</p><p>There will be a funeral service for the TV talk-show legend at the famed Catholic school&#8217;s Basilica of the Sacred Heart outside South Bend, Ind., followed by his burial in the university&#8217;s Cedar Grove Cemetery, Fighting Irish officials <strong>told WSBT-TV.</strong></p><p>Philbin <strong>died in his sleep Friday</strong>&nbsp;at age 88.</p><p>The entertainer was the long-running host of ABC-TV&#8217;s morning talk-show “Live!” and of the night-time game hit “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.&#8221;</p><p>Philbin was a graduate of Notre Dame and frequently went back to visit the campus and area over the years &#8212; as well as gushed about the school whenever he could on TV.</p><p>&#8220;Regis regaled millions on air through the years, oftentimes sharing a passionate love for his alma mater with viewers,&#8221; the school&#8217;s president, the Rev. John Jenkins, <a href="https://twitter.com/NotreDame/status/1287152282161815552?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet">tweeted in a statement</a> over the weekend.</p><p>&#8220;He will be remembered at Notre Dame for his unfailing support for the University and its mission, including the Philbin Studio Theater in our performing arts center,&#8221; Jenkins said, <strong>referring to a $2.75 million donation</strong> the star gave to the project in 2001.</p><p>&#8220;He likewise was generous with his time and talent in support of South Bend’s Center for the Homeless and other worthy causes,&#8221; the school president added of Philbin.</p>]]></content:encoded>
