The designer, 80, announced on Thursday that the Ralph Lauren Corporate Foundation will donate $10 million to disease relief efforts, split across different causes including the Emergency Assistance Foundation, the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund and more.

“Now more than ever, in this time of need, supporting each other has become our mission,” a representative from the brand wrote on the company’s website on Thursday.

“As we face this challenge as a global community, our hope is to continue to be the beacon of optimism and unity that Ralph Lauren and our brands have always been to the world.”

The company will provide financial grants to its own staff for “special circumstances like medical, eldercare or childcare needs,” and make “an inaugural gift” to the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund for COVID-19 Relief to support the American fashion community impacted by the pandemic.

Additionally, Ralph Lauren will continue its commitment to cancer care through the brand’s Pink Pony Fund, as cancer patients are particularly vulnerable to coronavirus complications.

The company is working to “assess need” for medical-grade masks and gowns; plenty of other designers, including Christian Siriano and Brandon Maxwell, have already begun producing desperately needed personal protective equipment for hospitals and healthcare workers.

Lauren follows in the footsteps of Donatella Versace, Gucci, Giorgio Armani, Nike and many more fashion insiders who are donating to help ease the global pandemic.
