Numerous 5G theories have gained traction in recent months as some believe the technology could be the cause of COVID-19 or a means of government spying.

Figliuzzi argued that issues surrounding conspiracies about 5G and similar theories are amplified by the spread of misinformation on social media.

“You’ll find almost anything imaginable and unimaginable online and it may be that this is what partially drove this individual, ” he stated. “And that’s why we need to speak the truth about what 5G is, where COVID came from and all of this.”

Figliuzzi warned the nature of the bombing could potentially pose an increased likelihood of a copycat attack. Moving forward, he urged Americans to be vigilant about misinformation on the internet.
