        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The MLBPA made a counter-proposal to the league on Sunday in a bid to save the 2020 season, details of which include a 114-game slate, full prorated pay and a $100 million total advance to the players for showing up to spring training, <a href="https://twitter.com/Joelsherman1/status/1267281374370770944?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">The Post&#8217;s Joel Sherman reported</a>.</p><p>The two sides have been engaged in <strong>shaky negotiations</strong> to begin the season in July, and players left last week&#8217;s meeting largely disappointed after the league proposed a pay cut scale to help make up for the money lost to coronavirus.</p><p>Under the union&#8217;s proposal, the players&#8217; $100 million advance for attending spring training would be non-refundable if the season were to be canceled. The players would also receive $100 million in salary deferrals, with interest, if the postseason is not played.</p><p>Individual players would also have the right to opt out of playing all together due to the coronavirus.</p><p>The season would run from June 30-Oct. 31 if the union gets its way.</p><p>The offer also includes playoff expansion for the next two years &#8212; two additional teams from each league &#8212; which had been included in the league&#8217;s proposal.</p>]]></content:encoded>
