        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The NHL has its first coronavirus case after a member of the Ottawa Senators tested positive for the virus, the team announced Tuesday.</p><p>The unnamed player has mild symptoms, and is in isolation, <strong>according to the team</strong>.</p><p>It marks the first case for the NHL, which joined the vast majority of professional sports leagues last week in suspending play because of coronavirus.</p><p>The team said it would be alerting anyone who would have had close contact with the player.</p><p>Locally, the Senators played the Islanders in Ottawa on March 5, though it is unclear whether the player had the virus at that time.</p><p>Seven NBA players have tested positive for the coronavirus, <strong>including Brooklyn superstar Kevin Durant</strong> and three other unnamed Nets players.</p><p>The Senators played the Los Angeles Kings at the Staples Center on March 11 — one day after the Nets played the Lakers at the same arena.</p><p>The hockey website, The Fourth Period, <strong>reported</strong> that the Senators used the same visitors locker room as the Nets.</p><p>Outside of basketball and hockey, <strong>two Yankees minor leaguers </strong>were the first professional baseball players to test positive for the virus.</p>]]></content:encoded>
