During a Facebook conversation with best friend and CBS reporter Gayle King on Sunday, Winfrey, 66, said, “A lot of white people don’t understand what they’re seeing … but when you feel invisible and unheard, it sends the message that you don’t matter. I do not know a Black man period who has not been profiled, including Stedman Graham.”

Winfrey — who has been with Stedman, 69, since they met at a charity event in 1986 — didn’t go into specific details, but her comment was in response to King, 65, explaining that she and her family haven’t been able to take a break from the heavy news following George Floyd’s death and the subsequent protests.

“We’ve been up since 4 [a.m.], me, [my daughter] Kirby, and [my son] Will … I literally could not sleep because I’m watching it,” King said. “All of us feel so haunted and unsettled by it. I can’t stop thinking about the looting, about George Floyd, the expression on that cop’s face when he had his knee on his neck, and he’s so comfortable … he had his hands in his pocket! That’s the universal sign of ‘I am really chillin’ here.”

“Thank God for the video tape,” she later added. “Racism isn’t better. It still exists, it’s just now on video.”
