Fans are joking that the Queen of Country has “cured the coronavirus” thanks to her $1 million donation to scientists working to develop a vaccine.

Biotech firm Moderna announced Monday that their experimental COVID-19 vaccine had shown nearly 95% efficacy in human trials.

Parton made the million-dollar donation to Vanderbilt University back in April, and it just so happens that the university was involved in Moderna’s trials.

“Dolly Parton donated $1 million to Vanderbilt for vaccine research. Vanderbilt researchers were involved in the Moderna trials. Ergo, Dolly Parton helped cure Covid,” wrote fan Jonathan Cohn on Twitter.

Pointing out the “Jolene” singer’s involvements, graduate student Jonathan Katz tweeted, “Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vacciiiiiiiiiiiiiine.” (You know the tune!)

Conservation scientist Meade Krosby pointed out that Parton had been shouted out in the acknowledgements of the New England Journal of Medicine report about Moderna’s new therapy.

The 74-year-old icon spoke to reporters earlier this year about her decision to make the big donation.

“My longtime friend Dr. Naji Abumrad, who’s been involved in research at Vanderbilt for many years, informed me that they were making some exciting advancements towards research of the coronavirus for a cure,” she told the Tennessean in April. “I am making a donation of $1 million to Vanderbilt towards that research and to encourage people that can afford it to make donations.”

To that, a gracious fan has rightly concluded, “We don’t deserve Dolly Parton. God bless that beautiful soul.”
