On her new track, “The End of Everything,” 20-year-old Noah sings, “My sister’s like sunshine, bringing good light wherever she’ll go / and I was born to rain clouds, blessed in her shadows.”

Over the weekend, Noah went live on Instagram and emotionally elaborated on her lyrics.

“I think just the message in the second verse, being born in the family I was in, everyone gave me such a hard time for having a hard time being Miley’s little sister,” Noah explained as she cried (via People). “But you know, I always felt like I was that person that no one gave a s–t about due to what people said to me online.”

The “Stay Together” songstress said living through it was “unbearable.”

“And that’s why I write, ‘My sister’s like sunshine, bringing good light wherever she’ll go/and I was born to rain clouds, blessed in her shadows.’ Because, that’s why everybody always says to me, that no matter what, I was going to be in that shadow,” she explained.

Being constantly told she would forever live in the “Wrecking Ball” singer’s shadow took a toll on Noah’s emotional and physical well-being.

“It was either that or that I wasn’t enough in some way, whether it was the way I look or the way I am,” she said. “Like I said the other day, sometimes I feel like I don’t even breathe right sometimes.”

Noah has been candid over the years about her struggles with anxiety and depression, even participating in a PSA for “Seize the Awkward.”

“I just needed to get it out; I needed the conversation because I couldn’t take it in my body anymore, I couldn’t take the feeling of anxiety circling in my chest,” she said in the video. “I couldn’t take that anymore, or I was gonna explode.”
