Another reason why it's completely ridiculous to use "per capita" as an indication on pollution by countries is because it removes China from the graph of top ten, or even top twenty of polluting countries.
China produces over a third of all plastic garbage that pollutes the world's waters. According to the report, mainland Chinese cities contribute up to 3.5 million tonnes of the 8 million tonnes of pollution that enters the sea each year.

China's unregulated plastic dumping has massive environmental and health consequences: it pollutes waterways, melts and burns the scraps, releasing toxic pollutants into the air, and leftover pieces unfit for recycling are dumped directly into rivers and seas, resulting in massive polluting "plastic islands" that float across the oceans.

The worst part about how China is primarily responsible for destroying the environment and our eco system is that no one is aware of it; in fact, the media and environmentalists never mention how China, not the West, is primarily responsible for the environmental destruction we're seeing on every level, from our atmosphere to our seas.

While everyone is preoccupied with what a Swedish youngster has to say about cow farts and the ban on plastic straws, China is killing our environment, our world, and no one seems to notice.
