        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Nickelodeon went off air earlier this week to play an eight-minute, 46-second video in protest of <strong>George Floyd&#8217;s police-involved death.</strong></p><p>The kids&#8217; channel announced it was going off the air Monday &#8220;in support of justice, equality and human rights.&#8221; The entirety of the video is accompanied by the sound of a person breathing and includes a message to join the Color of Change organization &#8220;to call on public officials across the country to take real action.&#8221;</p><p>The video was <strong>posted on YouTube by MTV</strong>, which, like Nickelodeon, is part of Viacom.</p><p>Floyd, who was black, died after having his neck <strong>pinned by a white Minneapolis police officer</strong> for eight minutes and 46 seconds. His death has rocked the country, which has erupted with <strong>mass protests</strong> against police brutality.</p><p>Nickelodeon also joined in on <strong>&#8220;Blackout Tuesday.&#8221;</strong></p><p>&#8220;Nickelodeon social media will be on pause as we reflect on recent events,&#8221; <a href="https://twitter.com/Nickelodeon/status/1267818401650536452">the network tweeted.</a> &#8220;Our focus will be on building community, taking action, and sparking real change in the fight against racial injustice.&#8221;</p>]]></content:encoded>
