And the first thing the former Yankees outfielder did was take to Twitter to share his exuberant reaction to the exciting news.

“Twenty seconds ago I just found out I’m on the Hall of Fame induction list,” Swisher said in a video Monday. “Are you kidding me, man? What an amazing honor. I can’t thank everybody enough. To all the people that put me on that list, what an amazing opportunity. Thank you so much. To all my fans out there, I love you guys. To my parents, I can’t thank you guys enough for giving me this opportunity.

“Step one in the right direction, guys. I’m on the list. I made the list.”

In his 12-year MLB career, Swisher played for the Yankees, A’s, Indians, Braves and White Sox. He has 245 career homers and a .249 career batting average, along with a World Series ring he won in his first season in the Bronx in 2009.

Swisher can stay on the ballot for 10 years if he is not elected but named on at least five percent of all ballots cast each year.
