        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Nick Cordero has a long way to go in his recovery from coronavirus.</p><p>The Broadway star&#8217;s wife, Amanda Kloots, says he is &#8220;doing slightly better&#8221; but is still facing challenges.</p><p>&#8220;He is still very sick and battling a lot,&#8221; she wrote on her Instagram story. &#8220;They turned him to a proning position today to open his airways. He has had this before and it helped a lot.&#8221;</p><p>Kloots said doctors also cleaned out the 41-year-old&#8217;s lungs to help fight infection. She also noted that Cordero is still testing negative for COVID-19.</p><p>&#8220;What he is and has been dealing with is the fail [sic] out from the virus and from infections that arise from being in the ICU as long as he has,&#8221; she wrote.</p><p>Last week, Kloots said her <strong>husband&#8217;s health was &#8220;going a little downhill&#8221;</strong> since <strong>waking up from his medically induced coma</strong>.</p><p>Cordero first became sick at the end of March and was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles with what he believed was a severe case of pneumonia. After being diagnosed with coronavirus, he was placed on a ventilator.</p><p>He ultimately had to have his <strong>right leg amputated</strong>, suffered two mini-strokes and a septic infection, battled fungus in his lungs and was given a temporary pacemaker for his heart.</p>]]></content:encoded>
