        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Broadway actor Nick Cordero, whose battle with COVID-19 has made him one of the most public faces of the pandemic, is still &#8220;fighting&#8221; despite a recent setback, <strong>according to an Instagram Stories update from his wife</strong> Amanda Kloots.</p><p>&#8220;When things look down, we look up,&#8221; Kloots, 38, wrote <strong>in a separate Instagram post</strong> — &#8220;I have my masters in optimism!&#8221; Her husband, she says, has &#8220;the eye of the tiger,&#8221; adding that &#8220;the power of prayer is real.&#8221;</p><p>On Wednesday, <strong>Kloots updated followers</strong> that &#8220;things are going a little downhill at the moment&#8221; hours after <strong>filling them in</strong> that Cordero&#8217;s right lung was improving, though his left was &#8220;still causing issues.&#8221;</p><p>Cordero, 41, <strong>had recently awoken</strong> from a medically induced coma after weathering the loss of his right leg, two mini-strokes, a septic infection and fungus in his lungs. He was also given a temporary pacemaker for his heart.</p><p>In March, Cordero, a native of Ontario, Canada, who had acted in &#8220;Rock of Ages&#8221; and &#8220;Waitress&#8221; on Broadway, was admitted to Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles with what he believed to be a case of pneumonia.</p><p>He and Kloots are parents to a son, Elvis, who is about to turn 1.</p>]]></content:encoded>
