Model Munroe Bergdorf called out former employer L’Oreal Paris after the company shared an Instagram post in support of Black Lives Matter on Monday.

“Excuse my language but I am SO angry. F—K YOU @lorealparis,” Bergdorf tweeted along with a screenshot of L’Oreal’s message, which said that “speaking out is worth it” and voiced the beauty giant’s “solidarity with the Black Community” and “commitment to the @naacp to support progress in the fight for justice.”

“You dropped me from a campaign in 2017 and threw me to the wolves for speaking out about racism and white supremacy. With no duty of care, without a second thought,” the model continued, in part. “I had to fend for myself being torn apart by the world’s press because YOU didn’t want to talk about racism. You do NOT get to do this. This is NOT okay, not even in the slightest.”

Bergdorf made headlines in 2017 as L’Oréal’s first transgender model to appear in a British campaign, but days later, the cosmetics conglomerate fired her for speaking up against the violent white supremacy demonstrations in Charlottesville, Virginia.

“L’Oréal champions diversity. Comments by Munroe Bergdorf are at odds with our values and so we have decided to end our partnership with her,” the company tweeted at the time.

Following Bergdorf’s comments on Monday, her fans quickly responded with support, sharing their disapproval in the comments of L’Oréal’s post.

“Well then I guess it’s about time you issued a long overdue public apology to Munroe Bergdorf AND compensated her for the trauma you caused. This is hollow unless you admit that you’ve used black women as props to show how many foundation shades you have but you certainly haven’t supported, stood in solidarity or spoken out for them before,” one person wrote.

L’Oréal Paris did not immediately respond to Page Six Style’s request for comment.
