Posting a selfie on Instagram, the stylist wrote: “Taking a break from social media. See you in a week or so. Until then I’ll be listening and learning.”

A few days before announcing her hiatus, the “Good Morning America” contributor posted an emotional clip of a young black girl crying while talking about being treated differently because of her skin color.

“I’ve always stood up to racism and injustice on this platform but someone dear to me let me know being silent these days is not enough,” Mulroney, 40, captioned the video. “People sometimes use Instagram to be ‘activists.’”

The mother of three continued, “But it must go beyond a picture, video or quote you share. It’s about educating your children and what you do to spread equality in real moments. Don’t just post a quote and move on. Create real change within your community. I’ve had many lengthy conversations with my children hoping the rest of the world is doing the same.”

Markle and Mulroney became pals in 2011 when the now-Duchess was an actress filming “Suits” in Toronto. They were featured on each other’s Instagram accounts including a holiday to the Amalfi Coast and all three of Mulroney’s children were in Markle’s wedding party when she married Prince Harry.

In 2019, Mulroney stood up for Markle when she called out “racist bullies” targeting her with “years of undeserved hate.”
