        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Max Tuerk, the former NFL offensive lineman and USC standout, has died at 26, <a href="https://twitter.com/USC_Athletics/status/1274806935926145025?s=20">the Trojans announced Sunday.</a></p><p>The cause of death was not disclosed by the college, though he website 247Sports <strong>reported</strong> Tuerk had collapsed while hiking.</p><p>Tuerk was a third-round draft pick by the Chargers in 2016 but never played a regular-season game with the franchise.</p><p>He was suspended the first four games of the 2017 season for violating the league&#8217;s policy on performance-enhancing substances.</p><p>Tuerk eventually was waived by the Chargers and signed with the Cardinals in November 2017, appearing in one game for Arizona before being cut a year later.</p><p>The Trabuco Canyon, Calif. native appeared in 38 games for USC and played every position along the program&#8217;s offensive line.</p><p>Tuerk, who stood at 6-foot-5, 285-pounds, was a First-Team All-Pac-12 selection during his junior season.</p></p></div></p></div>]]></content:encoded>
