That’s the reason why rapper-actor Machine Gun Kelly instantly bonded with his Oscar-winning co-star on the set of their Netflix movie “Project Power,” which premieres Friday.

“I’ll never forget walking on the set my first day, and I hear [my song] ‘Rap Devil’ blaring,” Machine Gun Kelly told The Post of the New Orleans shoot. “And I was looking for the source of the music, and it was Jamie Foxx playing it out of a loud boombox in his chair … What a cool way to start off a relationship between an O.G. and a young up-and-comer.”

Kelly, whose real name is Colson Baker, called Foxx “the most inspiring person I’ve ever been around on a set.” But he’d actually already met the “Blame It” singer before filming their new action flick.

“I had met Jamie at a party at his house before, found out his sister was a big fan of my music, so we already had that connection,” said Kelly, 30, who is also making headlines these days for dating Megan Fox. (The “Transformers” actress, 34, even declared Kelly her “achingly beautiful boy” on Instagram.)

Having appeared in such films as 2018’s “Bird Box,” 2019’s “The Dirt” — in which he played Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee — and this year’s “Big Time Adolescence,” Kelly is no stranger to the screen. He’s one of a string of hip-hop artists — from Will Smith and Ice Cube to Queen Latifah and even, yes, Mark “Marky Mark” Wahlberg — who have successfully transitioned from rapping to acting.

“We all got a charisma that demands respect,” said Kelly, who plays power-pilled force Newt. “I think that that’s important when you go in front of a camera because there’s just less fear in you.”

But Kelly — who just released a new single, “my ex’s best friend,” from his upcoming album “Tickets to My Downfall,” available Sept. 25 — said that rappers have to check their considerable egos when making movies: “They’re not feeling none of that ‘I’m a musician’ s - - t.’ They’re like, ‘Yo, if you aren’t gonna come do it, we’ll call Timothée f - - king Chalamet and he’ll come do it right now.’ ”
